The EL FAR Consortium, set up in 1992 as part of the effort to open up the city of Barcelona to the sea, provides education and training in sea trades, manages institutional projects and offers services to the nautical sector.

- Shipyard School
· Educational programs and resources for schools.
· Vocational training, basic seamanship courses and the “Recreational boat maintenance and port services” professional degree program
The Traditional Navigation School will be inaugurated in September within the framework of the 2006 Mercè Festival.
- Nautical Project Agency
· Nautical business incubator and several training spaces.
· Specialized library.
· Foundation for Ocean Navigation; Barcelona World Race.
· Barcelona Sea Festival; Tall Ships Race - Mediterranean.
- Coastal Observatory
· Analyzes and tests the Catalan coastal, as well as its evolution
· Develops actions and projects in the framework of the integrated management
· It is to the service of towns, organizations and administrations with competitions in the coast.
· Sensitizes and spreads the main values of the coast.
